NAME

fmplay − program to play mus files via the fms synthesizer

SYNOPSIS

musplay [options] [filename]

DESCRIPTION

This manual page documents the usage of the musplay command, which is part of the F Modular Synthesizer (fms).

musplay can play and convert midi-like mus files, as they are often used to typeset notes. You can specify basic properties for playing these files. The output can be either direct OSS sound (/dev/dsp) or wave files / fms midi files.

OPTIONS

−t time

length of output in seconds; this determines the speed of replaying the mus file

−V volume %

total volume percentage (0-100)

−w filename

wave output into filename

−b bytes

byterate for output (1 or 2)

−p frequency

concert pitch

−q

quiet mode - musplay is less verbose if this is specified

−a

asynchronous mode - pre-computing output; takes a longer time to wait but may be sensible for smooth output on slow systems

−fN filename

fms midi file output for voice N into filename

−vN volume

relative volume for voice N

−h −hN filename

envelope (volume modulation; attack-curve) file (fms soundfile format) for voice N or global

−i −iN filename

instrument file (fms soundfile format) for voice N or global

filename

last argument, always specifying the .mus-file to be played; sample files can be found in the fms distribution in the directory mus
